Moving to Zenfolio.com
Sunday, 18 April 2010 17:36

Its been awhile since our last update.

As we begin a new season of photography, we have changed our e-commerce service to zenfolio.com. I hope the new service will allow us some more flexiiblity that our previous service did not afford us such as much larger preview image sizes.

We have migrated a few events from last year to the new service and all future events will be hosted here. If anyone has any trouble with the ordering interface, please do not hesitate to contact us for assistance.

As we roll out the new E-Commerce and Proofing service, your feed back is more then welcomed.

Online Print on Demand
Friday, 17 July 2009 12:32

The Internet has opened up many customized services such as print on demand. Whether its one time printing of hard cover books like Blurb.com or short run business products like business cards, post cards and brochures, it opens the opportunity for small businesses and SOHO businesses to produce professional quality print materials in short runs. One service I recently tried is Overnightprints.com for printing some marketing materials for my Cutting Horse Photography and I thought I pass on some thoughts about using this service.

Software for GPS Tagging of Photographs.
Friday, 19 June 2009 14:48

I came across a great open source software for geotagging your photos. GeoSetter is a freeware tool for Windows for showing and changing geo data of image files (e.g. images taken by digital cameras).

Geotagging is the process of embedding GPS coordinates into your photograph's EXIF metadata in the file. (Wikipedia Article)

Why would this be of interest to anyone?

Websites like Flickr or Panoramio not only allow you to upload your photos but also add an additional aspect to the social sharing of your photos by automatically tagging and dispaly them on world maps like Google Maps, Google Earth or Yahoo Maps. Recently while planning a trip to France, I found this feature very useful to see the actual location of other photographer's online photos right inside of Google Maps which allowed me to get an idea of places to consider for our itinery that offered great photo opportunities and sites to visit.

The photo is of the Zocolo in downtown Mexico City D.F. in front of the National Palace and Cathedral. A word of note, the flag is at half mast in respect for a mining accident in Mexico that claimed many lives.
